Say Koniciwa to Taki and Mitsuha! |
Your Name
Review – My first ever Japanese anime movie experience.
Brought together by fate or a bizarre happening? |
Mitsuha
and Taki are two high school students living without knowing the existence of
each other in different part of the country. Mitsuha is bored on her country
life and wishes to live in Tokyo while Taki is a tired of his life in the city
who is interested in countryside landscaping. One day, both of them wake up in
the body of the other confused at first but slowly they begin to accept the
unusual body switch. They help each other live their switched lives albeit some
funny situations while trying to figure the reason for their condition. Pretty
soon, Taki figures out that the comet appearance has something to do with the
whole situation but he needs to act fast before fate change their lives for
once and all.
Body switchers... |
From the
music, animation, work of art, storyline, everything was a labour of love into
making this into a classic film to be enjoyed for years to come. Despite being
an animation, one could ‘feel’ the emotions felt by the lead characters, the
joy of exploring the city, the shyness of going on a first date, the
responsibility required to save others, the longing to meet your loved ones,
the frustration of not being able to control fate. It is a roller coaster ala
anime style served in a best way possible. I got no complain whatsoever about this
movie except wish I knew how to speak Japanese to appreciate this film even
more.
Will you remember my name? |
I’m not
really a fan of anime but rave reviews on this movie stole my interest to check
it out. I ended up being amazed by effort put into producing this film. I’ve
not been to Japan but after watching this movie, I wish I could board the next
plane to the Land of The Rising Sun. Who knows, perhaps I might get a taste of
an out of body experience ey?
