The Signal Review

R U agitated?
The Signal Review – Teen love, teen hackers, teen ability, teen rage…Area 51? Didn’t see that coming now didcha or perhaps you saw The Signal-pun intended miles away!
Stuck and trapped!
Nick (Brenton Thwaites) and Jonah (Beau Knapp) help Haley (Olivia Cooke) move by driving cross-country and stumble upon a hacker, Nomad who had previously hacked into MIT server. The big move causes some friction in Nick and Haley’s relationship. To get mind off things, Nick agrees with Jonah to track down Nomad who seemed just few miles away from their route. The trio manage to follow the clues but end up getting stuck in a different kinda situation when they gain consciousness. With access only to Dr. Wallace Damon (Laurence Fishburne) Nick tries to get some answers which unfortunately leads to nowhere. Determined to figure out what actually happened Nick breaks out of the captivity only find out there is a bigger plot surrounding their captivity.
What is Damon's purpose?
Newcomer Brenton Thwaites gives a pretty convincing performance as a confused teen faced with loads of uncertainty which also somehow gets a bit too much sometimes. He got potential so let’s just wait and see shall we? As for Olivia…she pretty much is sleepy, sleeping or sleeps in this flick making those with insomnia wish they had her ‘condition’. Laurence is his usual specialist-self trying to give and get information from Nick. The phase of the movie is so slow it might put one to sleep if you were to watch it after a long day at work. Heck…even if you didn’t have a long day, you might just doze off. The Director tries to stretch it as long as possible till it’s quite tiring to get to the end. I’m glad I caught the preview instead of having to waste my money to watch this dozer.

How far can you go?
I don’t have much to say except for wondering why these kind of movie is are being made when the money can be used for other useful purpose. The Signal failed to serve its point in my opinion.

Thank you hot magazine for the tickets!
