The Book of Life Review

Not an ordinary book this one...
The Book of Life Review – What would you do for the one you love? Would you follow your heart or listen to your head?
Three amigos, Joaquin, Maria & Manolo...
Manolo (Diego Luna), Maria (Zoe Saldana) and Joaquin (Channing Tatum) were three best friends wreaking havoc as kids at the town of San Angel. Maria’s father sends her away and the three amigos are reunited as young adult with their role to play in the town. Manolo is a talented Guitarist with a family custom to uphold as a Matador, while Joaquin becomes the town Hero keeping the town safe from bandit, Chakkal. In order to keep his people safe, Maria father, General Posada tries to get Maria to marry Joaquin. Little did they know that the Gods, Xibalba (Ron Pearlman) and La Muerte (Kate del Castillo) have made a bet of their own on the future of Manolo, Maria and Joaquin. Which is this God will win the wager? Will Chakkal attack San Angel? Who win Maria give her heart to?
La Muerte & Xibalba making their wager...
First thing you will notice is the vibrant colours that blend well with the equally vibrant characters. The visual is simply breath taking sometimes. Coupled with awesome music with a twist of Mexican touch to accompany this flick will make you smile and fall in love with the idea of …well… falling in love. Get ready to be transported into Mexican values of honouring family tradition or follow ones heart. The cast was well picked to match their roles. My favourite was the Candle Maker (Ice Cube) but the rest of voice talent gave him a good run for his money even the ones with minor part.

Some of the Sanchez familia!
Overall The Book of Life serves another good message of remembering those who have left us while keep moving and living our life. It certainly hit home on my book with things that have happened in my life. I miss those who have left me since but will keep them alive in my memory until I meet them again.

P/s - Thank you Churp Churp for the preview tickets!
